Introduction

About the Institute

Anand People’s Medicare Society (APMS) was established in 1992 with the objective of providing quality education to the students. The trust runs fourteen different educational institutes in the fields of Science, Arts, Management, Paramedical, Education, Social Work and Home Science. Smt. Kamlaben P. Patel College of Home Science was established in 2007 to fulfill the dream of girl’s education of late Smt. Kamlaben P. Patel. The college offers Masters Program in Foods and Nutrition, Food Biotechnology and Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics.

About Home Science

Home Science is a unique field of knowledge. Its inter disciplinary approach in synthesizing knowledge drawn from physical and biological sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities has enriched its educational programmed and also caters to the present day needs of education in order to meet the rapidly changing demands of family life and the multiple roles that women have to play in home as well as professional life. The different areas of specialization also concentrate on providing suitable training to the students for various job opportunities. The trained graduates and postgraduates are absorbed in hospitals, industrial units, hotel industries, and health fitness clubs and also as teachers, counselors, sales managers, designers, consultants and field workers in extension education and community development programmed.

Education is the most important element for growth and prosperity of a nation. Higher education is a critical requisite and an effective catalyst for social and economical change in Indian Society. College with the vision of empowerment and upliftment of women through excellence in science education. Its vision is to impart meaningful and conscientious learning process and build sensitive individuals with determination to achieve.

Mission

 To provide higher education to girls, especially conservative segment of the regional society where co-education is discouraged.

Ø  To inculcate and propagate the values of commitment, integrity and self reliance, thus making them globally competent.

Ø  Enlighten and create widespread awareness of the scientific knowledge among the girls, thus making them a better woman for tomorrow.

Ø To achieve all round development of its students. It aims at not only producing good professionals, but also good and worthy citizens of a great country aiding in its overall progress and development.

Ø  To treat every student as an individual, to recognize their potential and to ensure that they receive the best preparation and training for achieving their goals in life.

Functions

Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution;
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process;
  • Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes;
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education;
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles;
  • Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement;
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices;
  • Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality;
  • Development of Quality Culture in the institution;
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC.
